I feel this way about climbing. Climbing replaced drinking but it also became an obsession that I spend far too much time and money on. But it is working out? GOOD?! ok ok.

Reread month later after drinking then going back to climbing and can confirm a non dangerous substitution for drinking or drug use seems to be the move. While moving around I found coffee, coffee table books, and substack all good compulsive replacements. Hotel gyms. Art museums. Greenways.
